Crazies!

There’s nothing quite like a car full of 7 and 8 year old boys.

Moral Monitor

A song was playing on the radio in the car today and all of a sudden Kyle says “Mom! He said a bad word!” Completely oblivious to what was playing I asked him which bad word. He said “H, E, double hockey sticks and if he says it one more time he’s going to go to H, E, double hockey sticks!” No idea where he got that one from.

Weekend Fun

San Diego is one of the few places where you can play beach volleyball in November, which is what we did last Sunday. Here are a few pics…

Paintball!

Last weekend a crowd of us headed off to Camp Pendleton for a day of paintball. It was pretty fun with a personal referee for our group and battles in 3 different fields. I am now completely convinced that men can handle external pain much better than women, as the pain I felt when I was pegged brought tears to my eyes and almost made me quit.

The guys pounded each other and had bleeding welts to show for it, but they were all raring to play again and again. Either they don’t feel pain as intensely as we women do, or they do, but won’t show weakness in front of each other as that wouldn’t be very “manly” of them.

Poor Angel got some of the worst bruises I’ve ever seen and I think she’s signed off on paintball for life. I’m still undecided. The adrenaline rush is pretty good. Although I have a whole new respect for anyone who has ever been is real combat.

Pictures, pictures…

It’s Love

 images.jpg

Ok, now for the engagement story I promised. Plus, this blog is a diary of sorts, so I’d like to write down this story before time passes and I forget the details.

Jer and I took a trip out to Texas to visit friends and we happened to leave on our 3rd “anniversary”. Jer suggested we stop at a restaurant in Tucson, AZ on our way out to have dinner and celebrate. I was up for that, it sounded exotic (as exotic as Tuscon can get).  He did some research and found this little Italian place called Trattoria Pina with great reviews on Yelp and asked me what I thought. I heartily agreed.

We made reservations at 7:30pm, but had to push it forward to 8:30pm as the drive from San Diego took longer than we thought. We were very disheveled due to our 7 hour drive, and looked a fright so we pulled into a dark corner by the restaurant and changed into some nice clothes and smoothed our hair. NOT an easy task for me mind you.

I’m surprised I didn’t notice the box in Jer’s pocket as we walked into the restaurant, he managed to conceal it pretty well. The host showed us out onto their red brick back patio which was perfect. We were the only ones seated outside and the candlelit table was already set for us with a white and red checked tablecloth. Very Italian. There was a wrought iron fence surrounding us with vines wrapped around it and right next to our table a pretty tree with little white lights strung throughout. The night air was warm, and with the piped in soft music, it couldn’t have been more romantic.

We ordered wine and started talking about life and our years together, and then Jer began acting a little nervous which gave me a clue as to what he was about to do as he’s usually very eloquent. Next thing I knew he was down on one knee with a ring, asking me to marry him. Of course I said yes and according to Jer I said “a million times yes”. I’m proud to say I didn’t cry, although my eyes did tear up, but no rollers. :) It just so happened that the song that was playing while he proposed was about “wedding bells”. He couldn’t have planned it better.

The rest of dinner was magic. We ordered way too much food, it was all amazing, the service was impeccable and I couldn’t stop looking at the ring. We haven’t set a definite date yet, but we’re thinking September next year. Hopefully around our 4th anniversary and then we’ll have to start counting at 1 again. I am so happy and incredibly thankful I have Jer in my life. He’s such an amazing person and I’m looking forward to marrying him.

Thanks to all the well wishers. Love you all!

Engaged!

Jer proposed on our 3rd anniversary on our way out to Texas. I’ll write up the whole story when I get a chance, but for now here’s a pic of the bling. :)

Summer Camping Trip

Last weekend we took a 3 day camping trip to Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino mountains. We brought Kyle and my little niece, Ashley along and had a great time camping beneath the pines, fishing, relaxing, BBQing and breathing in the mountain air.

 Here are a few pics.

The Forbidden Office Chair

Once in awhile I bring Kyle to my office while he waits for his dad or Jer to pick him up. He’s commandeered an office chair and gets very frustrated when he comes in and it’s been moved.

Last week his frustration reached the breaking point and he taped this very serious warning onto it for all would be chair movers. It sounds ominous and all, but my curiosity as to what Kyle’s prison is all about is tempting me to cross boundaries.

Kyle’s Art

Kyle has an artistic flair so I bring him to art class. Last Saturday he did this chalk drawing.
